EV Proofreading

Many proofreading services bill by the hour or page, often offering prices that can be confusing. By offering a "per word" price, you will immediately know how much it will cost to proofread or edit your work, with no guesswork required. Price is based on the starting word count of the file sent.

 

Edits and comments are made using MS Word Track Changes, which can also be reviewed using the Suggest Edits feature in Google Docs. Documents sent to EV Proofreading should be in an electronic format, preferably .doc or .docx. All words in the document, including author bio, title page, and copyright information will be counted as part of the word count and will be proofread unless I am notified to exclude sections before editing and/or proofreading begins.

Timeline:

 

A timeline will be provided when the estimate is created. EV Proofreading's promise to you is that the deadline provided at the time of the estimate will not be altered without the consent of all involved parties.

 

Cost/Billing:

 

Proofreading is billed at a rate of USD $0.0045 per word.

This includes: correcting spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and word usage; checking for or imposing a consistent style and format.

 

Copy (line) editing is billed at a rate of USD $0.0065 per word.

This includes: correcting spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and word usage; minor fact-checking; checking for or imposing a consistent style and format; suggestions regarding paragraph length; breaking or joining sections; minor re-writing and/or suggestions for changes to the plot or character development.

 

There is a minimum of $10 per project.

 

A deposit of 50% is required before editing/proofreading begins, with the rest due within ten days of receipt of the completed file, unless prior arrangements are made.

 

Localization for ESL and Translated Works:

 

EV Proofreading offers language localization and post-editing services for books that have been translated to English from another language to help bring the manuscript to a human translation standard (if machine translated) or to update and clarify verbiage to make it stylistically appropriate and read like native English. If English is your second language and/or you have translated your novel/document to English and need assistance, please contact EV Proofreading for pricing.
